ok so a buddy told me about this single cab and i went to talk to the owner to see if he wanted to sell it or come to the local vw that is next weekend.
well i get there and it is a semaphored single cab and i talk to the guy and find out he bought it for $750 bucks and drove it home from texas years ago.
well i start to look at it and a lot says it isnt a 55 but maybe a euro import maybe a 59?

well here are the pics. you decide.

Low tailights, eybrow decklid. Not a '55. Probably a Euro '59.

Did it have pressed bumpers?

What VW show did you invite him to?

John,
I was just giving Will a hard time. I thought he should be mentioning the name of his show any chance he gets. Especially since it is new. He finally got my hint and posted the name of the show...

So what year do you think it is?

well, if I had gone and seen it in person I'd have looked to see if it had an M-code plate, and what the VIN number was stamped in the engine compartment.

I'd bet my Kipa it's a 59 Euro Model. I had a 59 Standard Euro years ago.

Cool bus Will. I hope you do some justice to it!

Just noticed the front seat is a 1/3 2/3. My '58 has a full bench seat. Its later than a '58 or someone stuck the wrong seats in it.

It has cut wheel wells and low semaphores, that makes it about a 59.

Mike,
Were their single cabs with Semaphores above the beltline? Like a BD?

Or all below.

Earlier trucks had semaphores up high. I thought I read the reason for the change, if a truck had a canopy on it, the canopy flapping in the wind would obstruct the semaphores to vehicles behind the truck.
