OK, now that the spare tire is on the back door, the clamshell is looking a bit too empty. Anyone store anything interesting there? I was thinking of finding a rubbermaid container to store infrequently used things - spare parts, tools. Perhaps water for the shower.
Anyone?
Thanks

El lugar donde se guarda la rueda de repuesto. Como tiene forma parecido a una concha de almeja, el americano de habla inglesa le llama <<clamshell>> _________________ 1984 Wolfsburg 7-passenger stock sunroof

I've been planning to slip a spare fuel tank in/up there. along with a nice hombuilt bullbar and skid plate..
mind you worrying nancys I drive a Diesel.. but wouldn't have any worry about a gas filled one either. nestled between the frame rails and behind the unibody bumper structure I'd really only worry about puncture (hence skidplate)
anyways I've already trial fit a VW FOX sedan tank, it fits in the hole but the filler points towards the DS and I'd like to fill it from the same side as the primary tank so I need to fab a filler tube and new rad support.
We're planning on making some DIY imitation SA saddle tanks, maybe I'll make a clamshell tank that'll point the way I want it. then again the fox has the right fuel gauge sender with an intank lift pump so it's rather ideal for my needs.
would be nice to have another 250 mile range diesel fuel can get scarce in some places on a trip. as for weight 12galx8lbs=96#s less then another passanger (think sinka 3 or 9 pass bench) |

I remember a post about someone buying a Westy and finding a Dart board there, along with a bunch of other wierd stuff stuck here and there.
It just isn't a camping trip without a spirted game of darts!

mabe that set of lawn darts I found @ a yardsale..
but I was planning on buying some of those 'ziploc' large storage bags, and putting my jumper cables, tow rope, and etc I only need in emergancy (usually other peoples emergancies)
that should all fit inside the stock spare tire.
and yes on mine there WILL be a aux tank if I can only get the time/ambition.

Spare parts storage?
Keep the portable grill underneath?
Blow-up Kiddie Pool to soak your feet in after a hard days drive?
Dual Battery set-up?
My minds a thinkin' ...
Great idea on the extra gas tank Dan. _________________ Happy Trails!
