I love the classified section as well. I search it three to four times a day looking for an oval window or ragtop project to start (hopefully within 500 or so miles of my house). My only problem with the classifieds has been the response from some of the people selling the cars. I initiate the conversation with e-mail to get additional information. I usually receive a quick response. When I finally make arrangements to drive to see the car, this is usually the time that they start to balk then finally say that they don't really want to sell the car or if I would give them $1000 more they might be persuaded to sell. When I go to look at a car, I take cash, my tow bar, and towing lights. If I'm driving 500 miles to see a car, I'm not sight seeing. I just prefer to finalize a deal in person in case they have misrepresented the car in any way. So I make an appointment (supposedly the first appointment of the day), drive 250 miles to look at the car, only to find out that they sold the car two hours before I got there (I tried to call you an hour ago to let you know it was sold but no one was home). If you want a good laugh, I should post some of the e-mail responses that I receive. Hopefully, I will run across that one person and I will have my project. Till then, I'll keep reading those ads. |
