Ok, so I am buying some metal for my 55 Wolfsburg deluxe and I have some questions.
1. I need lower rear corners. Are the corners the same 55-67?
2. Is the Klassic Fab 55-57 decklid with the 3rd brakelight correct or does it need to be modified to be correct?
3. Are there any differences in belly pans? |
1. not 100% sure but I think the only difference on the corners from beltline down is tail lights position and reflectors
2. not sure about the KF one but the wolfsburg one the inner pressings are made of 4 pieces so there are seams near the corners
3. ??????? _________________ '60 15 window walkthrough

1. Corners are different from 64-67 from the beltline down. The rear hatch goes into the corner on wide hatch busses,
2.. Correct above.
3... The belly pans are the same thru 1959 as Wolfsburg built. They are longer on the side panels and extend to a third outrigger in front of the rear wheels. One outrigger farther back than the rear jack point. |

Hi,
I'm searching for the correct headlight lenses for my February 56 originally delivered to Canada.
Does anyone have any pictures of the lenses?
Thanks John |

Welcome to The Samba... well, to posting anyway.
At the top of the Split Bus forum... there's a Sticky:
Split Bus FAQ and How Tos - *Read before posting*
From there, you can scroll down and see a section titled "Glass" and a thread topic:
Headlight Glass
As far as I know... Canada used North American lenses... so, US spec.
The Headlight Glass thread would be a better place to pursue the info. _________________ aka: Evan

Yes.
From that thread above, it's the "E1" lens like this

There's two "E1" and do we know when the cutoff is from "E" to "no E"?
"E1.0671.01" across bottom, both Hella (top) and VW logos--'56-'63
- "25484" along inside top of rim--'56-~'58
- "25484" in lower left corner-- ~'59-'63
or
No "E" number, just Hella logo at top and VW logo at bottom--'53-'56
- No vestigial oval in center of lens--late '55-'56 _________________ aka: Evan

...Also, were bullet turn signals used from the beginning of production of post barndoor buses? I mean is a semaphore wolfsburg bus a euro model or was it a few thousand buses into production before you see bullets? What I can find on the subject is a little vague.
This thread is great. My Wolfsburg is a ways from the road but I will have to get some detailed feature shots up soon. Its a April '55 semaphore (in case you hadn't guessed) kombi #20-122*** |
My early April '55 Kombi is also a segapone Bus. I believe that all of the Buses through about May or maybe early June-ish had semaphores regardless of destination. The earliest bullet '55 that I can think of off the top of my head was a June '55. I've actually seen a couple June '55's that had bullets. Anyone else know more specifically on this one? I'm just curious. |
Bit late on this thread but My May 55 has bullets |

Cab doortops...vent window tabs...
Late barndoor shape:
Flat, no rib, convex top curve (similar to the barndoor safari dashtabs.
Did this tab design carry over to late 55/56? _________________ -StockRocks- |

Now before anyone asks the question, this is the original fresh air box cover, it hasn’t been changed.
Dove blue inside, pgsg outer, with some dB seen through the chips.
Which actually brings me onto this possible feature or change.
This is the original fresh air flap, dove blue seen on one side. But the strange thing with it is the flap is held together with split pins instead of rivets. I only removed it yesterday so it’s a surprise for me also.
This bus is in Australia, the birth cert says bound for England, but it’s a west Germany bus.
