|
|
Got my rims sandblasted and going to the paint shop this week along with the rest of my car. I know that the center of my rims should be silver white and the outer rim strato silver, but what about the back side of the rims?
Thanks, _________________ Craig

Black. I would suggest powder coating the entire rim black then paint the fronts the other colors. _________________ '54 Sunroof

I agree with black. I have original paint rims on my '62 and they are black on the back. _________________ Central Jersey VW Society

So, if you powder coat the whole wheel and then paint the front in the desired color(s), does paint adhere well to powder coated surfaces? _________________ 83 1/2 Westy waterboxer

No it doesn't adhere... you need to Powdercoat the whole wheel... specifically, use Satin Black Powdercoat... then scuff up the front with 400 Grit sandpaper.... blow off with air....tack cloth it.. and then spray it.. Looks great and adheres well....
Heres a shot of one of my 16" wheels.. that I powdercoated and painted... L11 Light Green in color. and... Excelsior Tube Type Bias Ply's of course..... I LOVE these tires... I swear .. they drive very well for Bias Plys.
