You couldn't compare those two cars to each other. Christiansen's '43 is probably the oldest in the US

i counted 109 from the split window registry. [2] 43's [2] 45's [21] 46's [25] 47's [4] 48's and [55] 49's. this is old info don't know how accurate it is. this is just the one's known.

steve

my 46 1-055407 oldest 46 on registery. right behind vw of america's 45 1-053814 which was the last 45 built.

I think he means if you are trying to sell one you tell people there are only 4. If you are bargaining to buy than you tell the seller there are plenty others to choose.

Correct...Sorry but I'm not a great fan of these posts because it can never be anymore than conjecture. The Split Window Registry figures are meaningless. The cars do exist and it's nice to look at them but any registry will be massively incomplete.

...but if everyone's having a go my guess is 346. Smile i.e. more than you think.

I think this is the best media to get a educated guess. Not conjecture or inference. I think we all know that it is nothing more. I do however believe that here on The Samba we could get in the ballpark.
