I picked up a new bus this past weekend and im trying to figure out the model year for the title. Good facts on here and drop gates but it falls in that gray area. Popular opinion will rule. Its vin is 1942XX which makes it an Aug. of '56. Im reading it as a '57 model. Anyone disagree or agree? 2 cents welcomed.

the tech section say's 191842 is start of 57 model year.
the 58 has never been outa action, other than it aint been tagged in a year, i have been remodeling a house since last august, and aint messed with any of my dubs.

I figured even though it is "unverified" the fact that my bus is 3g past it, its most likely a '57. Don't anybody get me wrong, I have nothing against owning a '57. Just want to be sure for the title.

I remember an earlier thread on this that left things sufficiently unresolved that I feel OK about my Sept 1, 1956 bus (197 603) being titled as a 56.
I just call it a September 56 kombi around people who know busses. |

Thats a good way to handle it. I really wish there was a definitive answer here though. I like to role YOM tags and I'd like them to be ligit.
so far '57 is the winner.
