|
|
Hello Guys,
yesterday we got our 1940 Kubel back. I found the car about 2 years ago. I was build in August 1940 and is a total protoyp car. All side pannels are handmade. The car came about 1989 from Lybia back. The engine is not the orginal but it is an orgianl 900cc from 1939.
The car was restaured by the best man for vw cars befor 1945 .
His name is Jazek Krajewsky from Warsawa ( www.ww2vw.com )
Nobody is better !
Also i like to thank Thomas from Poznan and his farther Roman - they were also part of the team ( Technic )
The sand tyres are are orginal from 1941 ( all are orginal )
Hope you enjoy the pics.
Bye from sunny Germany
Christian

The extra pump by the tank is for the cars for Africa.
The speedo and pod are NOS and the are not restaured.

Congratulations... it's a great car and you've done superb work.
Christian, you have done tribute to a great car.
Why the Kronprinz tires in combination with a prototyp 82? |

I imagine they were painted red so untrained mechanics would know where to grease it.
Very impressive. Very likely the best Kubel in the world. |

This is a great vehicle..a bit of history
Question on the tires though. How can tires that old if indeed they are original be in any condition to hold air and not be brittle after all these years? I thought that rubber has a shelf life no matter how you store it. _________________ 1967 Type1 Zenith Blue |

what's the deal with the steering wheel also? I've seen similar in old photos of prototyle Beetles only. That one looks identical, amazing!
