|
|
i just converted my 65 to 12 volt. i used the generator and stand from my defunct 1600 and and put them in my 40 horse. i bought a new regulator and everything else required for the conversion. i started it up, but now the charge light wont go off. the generator is making some juice because the charge light gets dimmer the higher you rev the engine. i was wondering if anyone had any ideas as to what the problem is, or if it is just a bad generator. |

with a new generator, or if they've been sitting long enough, you need to polarize it to get the current flowing the right way.
If you remove the fan belt, so the generator turns freely.
Remove the relay connectors to the generator.
Take two jumpercables Negative goes to negative (generator body) or use the regular car ground strap.
connect the plus cable to bot D+ and B+, the generator should turn over as an electric motor.
do it for a couple seconds, if it spins, you're good. |
