|
|
I am a fan of California Look Volkswagens. Of course, beetle is the best candidate for a Cal-look Volkswagen. But I will follow the German-look style on my 1032s Super Beetle due to its handling characteristics. Nevertheless, I am trying to incorporate the Cal-look theme on my Type 3 called "SHARKY." I installed 205x70x15 tires in the rear and 155x15 up front. I also used an Original Sprint EMPI Wheels. Does its stance fit the Cal-look fashion? Does a 1970 Type 3 Fasty a potential candidate for a Cal-look Type 3? Now with the pictures hereunder posted, does my Type 3 follow the Cal-look style? Please give some more inputs on how to follow the said style.
TY,
DONGKG

Cal look says loose the chrome around the windows. BUT, you dont want to do that. I think your stance is about right. _________________ Society is like stew. If you don't keep it stirred up, you end up with a lot of scum on the top!--Edward Abbey

I know pre-1970 type 3's are better for the Cal-look style. But my Sharky is a 1970 model and it has square bumpers. Would it look ok I replace them with early bumpers or retain the square bumbers? Thanks. _________________ '67 KG Cabrio (Mickey) ;

I prefer the rubber chomes to be there. In fact, I am looking for body moldings, although I know these are expensive. About the stance. What if I lower it about two inches up front and in the rear? Would it give a better appeal? _________________ '67 KG Cabrio (Mickey) ;

Yeah, I have been thinking of doing that lowering job. Thanks of the sound advise. Well well well, I hope the pictures didn't deceive you. Those are EMPI Sprint stars with two-liter style. We call that here in the Philippines, "two-liter de facto. TY. _________________ '67 KG Cabrio (Mickey) ;

Yeah, thanks, dude. I like the ride of its height. That is why I am still thinking if it is wise to lower it a bit. _________________ '67 KG Cabrio (Mickey) ;

Ok, I' ll try to install those early blades. But finding a pair of those early blades in good condition is like searching a missing coin in the middle of the sahara desert. But, I'll give it a shot, Blankmange. _________________ '67 KG Cabrio (Mickey) ;

while you are at it, be sure to look for the early bumper brackets, as the late ones are too wide for early bumpers... _________________ póg mo thóin

That's already type 3 collection. After I have finished SHARKY, I am thinking of acquiring an early Type 2. Happy family, indeed. _________________ '67 KG Cabrio (Mickey) ;

Cal Look and roof racks do not go together. To me it is all about big motors, no chrome, no bumpers (At least on a Type 1), one color paint and no roof racks, coolers, mudflaps, gravel guards........ stuff like that. _________________ If you`re going to do something, do it right. |
