Super early Double Cab?
What's the special color?
Special color could be a true special order uncommon color or I have seen Sealing Wax Red listed as special too, as in SK654E or something similar.
The 300 series is usually a combination code, like everything needed for N. America specifications.
Are you sure it's not 360 and not 306? _________________ How to Post Photos

Yeah it's a seamed roof, seamed gate, bellypan DC. From what I have researched here there's only 2 older factory DC's known.
The code is for sure 306 not 360, although 360 would make more sense!
The color is debatable. P/O says fire engine red however looks more SWR to me. But when we put a OG paint fresh air vent cover plate that was SWR next to it the cover plate was a lot more orange than the red on the DC. When it gets painted I'm going to sample the color from the overspray on the roof inside the cab and it's getting that color on it. _________________ Ambassador of Logistics Wide 5 Vintage Volkswagen Club International |

1967 Sliding door Ambulance from Austria:
Sliding door code is not in the M-code plate?
736 is unknown - I added it to the list here on the site
The 100 paint code is also new, I added it to the list as "Ivory?"
Any other information or corrections welcome... |
Interesting Ambulance!!!

With or without code in the m-plate i noticed that most buses with sliding door have the number "6" as option like "paint code finish"!

527 special code paint is unusual too!?!?
Funny to see an Ambulance paint code with M-code 030 on the same plate...^^

Interesting information on the "6" paint type.
I wonder what that would have to do with Sliding door Buses.
Coincidence I guess?
I think 30 on the M-code plate is not 30 = Primer
but this:
30 - Headlight flasher with dash mounted idiot light, number plate lamp
I see this mentioned as being seen on other Buses for Austria
527100 is the full paint code. 100 being the color
5 is Export, 27 is the model
This makes me wonder, do German special color Buses have something other than a leading "5" in the special paint code? _________________ How to Post Photos

Change your mind?
I was going to ask if it was a factory 12v bus since it had the 620/621 codes |
Masked the vin and reposted. But yes, it's factory 12 volt.
I've wondered if there's any relationship between the 12 volt and the fact that it had that weird/ugly A/C unit installed on the roof. Was it requested/ordered that way for that reason? Did the dealer just pick a 12 volt bus? Did the customer pick the bus then opt for the A/C?
