Sheesh...at least you just sold David's trailer. There should be thread called "Offer-to-buy-notes" or somesuch (but blur the phone numbers?).

If leaving the # there "sold David's trailer", then he may get a bus offered too! Cool

I like the guys initiative. What did he have to lose putting the note there? The old expression in sales. Everything to gain making the call and only possible rejection.

It's not like he'd figure someone would be posting his note on a forum?!? Laughing

The 1600cc dual port engine that the D-Cab came with sounds so much better with the new EMPI Quiet power exhaust system.

^^^ Just for a heads up, that paper gasket at the header to muffler connection will blow out very soon. You want to find the metal reinforced version. Also, that muffler is designed to fit a beetle, hence the reason the tip exits behind your bumper. If you have the tools, cut and weld whatever is needed to align the muffler parallel with the bumper so that the tip comes out below and behind the bumper edge. A muffler shop could do it easily, too.

Lastly, that muffler will rust out and crack/expand/fall apart in short order. Empi stuff is generally crap, and that muffler is no exception. When that happens, go back to the muffler shop to have them build you something better, or search around for one of the better exhaust options available for your truck.

This week I scraped all the undercoating out of and then media-blasted the engine compartment in my '57 23-window

Painted some new chrome hub caps to replace the incorrect scuffed and dented grey ones.

And modified a fuel pump diaphragm. Replaced the too-short shaft with a machine screw that I filed the threads off down by the head, so the pump foot doesn't grind on them. Hopefully it'll allow me to set the pre-load properly.

What would cause a good oil pressure switch to not work? Bulb is good in the speedometer.
Would attempting to run a 1959 single without headlights or the dimmer switch cause issues with the grounding of the entire electrical system?

If you have a static timing test light you can hook it onto the oil switch. Disconnect the bus wire from the oil switch. Hold or clip the other end of the test light to the coil power and have someone start the bus while you watch it.

My last 2 jalousie windows out of storage and a tiny bit of polish giving her a vintage look, finally.

Thanks guys but if you look closely I only did the outside lip and rough at that as I am putting all the details aside from now on so I can do what I originally planned nearly 10 years ago and that is to roll my bus for some serious camping. I don't even care if she gets rusty again while out on the road, I let every scratch and ding stop my progress for years and now I don't care. I love backpacking/tenting style and will continue as this little camper needs do do what she does best, as originally planned.
