Rebuilt my headlights with euro lenses (I like them, I know) and finally got the bumpers on after three tries. My painter struggled with bad hardener, he had to strip them twice.
Im having fun with this thing. Next is a humpback cover from Corey and new interior panels.
Im hoping to have most of what I intend to do to done by OCTO.

Broke the clutch cable.
Bought a new clutch cable.
Fitted the new clutch cable.
I only went out for a 15 minute run round the block. _________________ Andy

Bus went dead with electrical issue. Pulled the Summit Racing CD ignition box, PerTronix module, Summit Racing ignition coil for ignition box and went back to stock...Blue coil, points & condenser. Dumped the oil pressure safety switch in favor of an inertia switch. Less electronics to go bad. Less wiring. Easier to diagnose and fix. Less headaches. |

I switched back to the old original fuse box on mine.
My headlights were randomly going out. I noticed, the fuses didn't have proper contact any more. The reason behind it is, that the tabs gut hot and the fuse box plastic started melting.
The new fuse boxes are made of plastic and that melts. The old ones are made of Bakelite and they don't have that issue.
As with most parts it is better to stick with the original stuff. _________________ - Michael

I picked it up yesterday from reduction seals changing and today it had new 205/70 tires. I know it is not stock, but few things are in this Westy. I like them...

Looks great! The tires look like a perfect fit. It appears the cat is checking the lugnuts for you too _________________ Brandon |

Thank you. I was affraid about bigger tires when turning. But it passes very, very well. We will see in mountain when passing big holes or "stones".
It was the first meet between Turbo (the cat) and the Westy. It is funny because he passed a lot of time inspecting this wheel. It was loose when they changed tires and they had to tighten it again... The 6th sens of cats?

Sorry for posting little things I do on my bus. Maybe not as interesting as some marvelous skills most of you do have (congrats and RESPECT!)
I put new Zanetti mirrors. They are against dead angle. They're plastic, I thought they were going to fit horrible; they are ugly but they give security and confort compared with little round instable repro's. Don't blame on me. I only drove 21windows until now

Interesting mirrors, I kinda like them. I wonder how they would look if the narrow end was pointed out, or down? _________________ nothing |

Flipped the canopy slats over. Glad I followed the advice on Dropgates.com and chamfered the ends so they could be turned periodically. They'd really sagged, particularly where there are knots in the timber. Much straighter now..
And I made a dash tray mat out of foam fabric. I'm amazed at how much quieter it's made driving. Everything on that tray rattled over every bump.

it was mushroomed
so I needed to first do some facing to get the correct geometry to start threading. _________________ Aug '58 pressed bumper SO23

WOW! It looks to have partially collapsed the hole for the pin as well. Sledge hammer do that? I can't imagine a puller doing it but stranger things have happened. |
