Does anyone know if the fiberglass pop top on an EZ camper is the same as the Westfalia SO42 Pop top? I need to replace the canvas tent and would like to buy one of the available Westy repro's rather than make one myself. If anyone has the dimensions (L x W) top and bottom of the Westy tent I would appreciate the info. I think I can work on the EZ camper rig to make it fit if it is anywhere close.

It looks very similar to my pop-top. I have never seen that style of pop-top from the factory on anything other than a Westy. Sportsmobile used one similar in shape, but visually different.
It appears to be a westy style pop-top grafted on to the bus. Is the edge of the opening for the hole flanged vertically?
Take measurements of the hole and the pop-top. Then compare to SO-42 pop-top and you'll have your answer. I can measure mine if needed. |

I'm very ignorant about splittys in general, I just bought 2 busses like this w/ a square pop top. The PO is gonna send me the m-plates pretty soon w/ more pics of them. I don't really even know what I have yet, but I DO know niether of them have canvases on them. He said one of them was a Westy, I don't know about the other, one's a 66 the other a 67. Thanks for your help. _________________ Looking for SO34 parts.

If you can locate a good local upholster, they can probaly make a correct fitting canvas for you from the dimensions of the opening and popup.
I would check this avenue out and then get some comparisons. Good luck with your search............wish I could find one not just two....lucky fella! _________________ "Two things are infinite: The universe and human stupidity; and I'm not sure about the universe." Albert Einstein

Good advise Brian. I've seen custom made canvases that are much better quality and fitment than any of the ones I've seen available for purchase. I have one from Wolfsburg West and am moderately happy with it. It could fit better but it's more than I had before.
Cost is also an issue. |
