77 Westy and I am trying to remove those pestky track covers on the rear of both sides of the bus. Got the two screws removed but they don't budge. _________________ 70 Ghia Black convert-9/69 build date-stock w/133k 1600 SP-barn find now with a rebuilt tranny and engine

Try to slide it forward a bit (at least sliding door side with slider open). Then tap it up out of the groove.
Does that make sense? _________________ Eric

I had to tap mine upwards with a piece of lumber, once they were broken loose they came off ok. _________________ Rust NEVER sleeps and stock never goes out of style.

got the sliding door side off by tapping it forwards then up.
Do you just tap the other one up?
Pretty rusty on the backside of the covers, darn. _________________ 70 Ghia Black convert-9/69 build date-stock w/133k 1600 SP-barn find now with a rebuilt tranny and engine

Should be three screws total, two on the side near the nose of the bus. _________________ Been on the samba so long I remember petting that dog to see VWs, WYHI, and green bug girl.

Tapped it up a bit at each end, the rear is tapered so you have to be careful not to nick the paint as it wedges itself in there. Once it's moving tap it forward a bit as it goes up.
Had another bus with more advanced rust that I had to use a piece of 1x4" with the end shaped like a wedge so I could pound from underneath, right beside the upper joint.
Different years have different amounts of screws, the newer it is the less screws. _________________ Rust NEVER sleeps and stock never goes out of style.
