|
|
My ball joint boots keep popping off once I get both torsion arms in the spindle. I probably messed with the passenger side for 2hrs; reattaching boots and spiral clips; then putting spindle on.
Any helpful hints? This is getting a bit ridiculous. The BJ's are all new and I had the boots removed when the joints were pressed in. _________________

When you tighten the ball joints to the spindles, the boots compress quite a bit. I don't understand how they could be popping off. A photo would sure help... |

John, a pipe that fits over the boot but will still grab the sides of the ball joint boot works well to seat them all the way down. Even a large socket will work. Sometimes you can get lucky with some channel plyers to pull it down one side at a time. _________________ Contact me at [email protected]

The torsion arms have to be twisted into position so the spindle fits. The ball joints get pulled to one side and the boot slips off the corner. _________________

I might be thinking of a different type of boot. They have a tension ring that has to be pushed down. It sounds like yours have the ring that raps around it once or twice. Either way, they boot should be seated all the way down the the ring should hold it down. _________________ Contact me at [email protected]
