It’s had an incorrect repaint. It is still original ultra maroon paint inside. Yes I’ll probably never get rid of this one. _________________ GFK

Does anyone have the pan to body bolt pattern and torque spec for a 57 bug? Or know where I can find it. |

That Oval looks like the HotWheels toy! It all depends on what you're after, you can't go wrong with original colors. Anything else just looks strange to me. I would bet that car was restored in the late 80's, when not much was available like there is now. You might be surprised how much you'll actually need when "re-restoring" that Oval. |

Part of the charm of these cars is their originality. That current color is definitely Hot Wheels central, as mentioned.
I'd go with that particular car's original color, and if not, at least an original color from that year of manufacture. And stock wheels. And put the fly windows back in and the moldings back on. And lower the tail lights. And . . . _________________ “If you care for a thing long enough, it takes on a life of its own, doesn't it? Well I totally agree with you. The windows are on their way to my place, should have them by the end of the week. The vent windows are a must...I totally must have them back in. Finding the parts has been a bit difficult.
I did not notice the tail lights..omg...I did not realize they were raised up the fender...not much..but a few inches. The color, well I think you have a point. The hot wheels look is so past..
I have a stock 68...I mean purist "stock". It cost me a bomb doing the restore for that car, keeping away from aftermarket parts. But it looks great, and has won at Vancouver vw show back 2 years.
I doubt if I can do a stock restore on this car, not that it is that far gone. Just I would like to put a larger engine in it, nice rims, keep it stock height, classic interior. Look and feel like an oval, but drive a bit smoother.
Stock colors for 57 are so drab. Everyone has a black or green car. I need more, but not this flash that's on there. |

The tail lights are high because of the wrong bumpers. Turn signals are also, but nobody ever moves those. |

Very nice!!
To make it even nicer, I would invest in YOM 1957 plates to really stand out. _________________ Gone but not forgotten: 1950 Hoffman split (restored in 1966) - another 1950 Hoffman split (restored in 1996) |
