my new toy arrived today - 1956 US oval all original. story I have is that it was run for 10 years then put in a barn in pa in 1966 for the next 35. in 2001 it was found and ended up at speciality cars in allentown who sold it to a guy in the UK last year. It is super solid and originally diamond grey with tan interior. I intend to preserve the patina look as I feel it would be a shame to put shiny new paint over its history.
...and yes the filter is going to be moved! asap

My parents bought this early Oval new in October 1953.
The car still has Zwitter parts such as the starter button and the brakes.
I drive the car every week.
Every 3 years we participate in the Circuit des Ardennes. It is a tour in the Belgian mountains, called the Ardennes.
The Circuit des Ardennes started for the first time in 1902.

Some pictures.

This is our Dec '55 Oval Ragtop project on the day my son and I picked it up about two years ago. We've really only got stuck into getting it on the road over the past six months. It came in dog-rough form, with no engine, and destroyed interior.

Right now, it's back up and running, with the interior about 90% done. Engine is in and running, and brakes are being sorted. We're about a month from being on the road.

And yes - we're leaving the exterior as-is Smile

I must also reply to Ovally above, with his post on the Circuit Des Ardennes. That had me doing some more research on that event. I was so intrigued and amazed by such an idea. It has me wondering if similar historic driving routes exist in North America, as those sorts of things go beyond a drive within the area of some of our best and biggest car shows. What a great way to show and enjoy our vintage cars. I'm in Canada, but I think about Route 66 in the US. Are there particular segments where anyone can go back in time in terms of car travel on a section? Is there a thread specific to this?

this is the very original July 1956, Polarsilber, one family owned Oval that I was lucky enough to get 2 yrs ago. I even sold my 53 barndoor single cab for that !
One family owned 100k km og paint, og engine, og chrome, og interior, og wheels, og tools, jack, manual, even the og DUNLOP tires are still w/ the car. sold new, licensed, kept and garaged and purchased and now kept within 10km in same town since new.
I love this one. it smells so nice and you can see how the og owner cared for it a lot. Thank you Mr. Senekowitsch !
