a used parts vendor at a VW show. I don't know what it came out of but it fits the hole perfectly. It also only cost $1 so it was way cheaper than buying a tach to fill the space..

Looks like the emblem off of a beetle's hood. I have one in my room I got at a junk yard and it seems to be the same size.

List it in the classified section

http://www.thesamba.com/vw/classifieds/search.php?...ton=Search

Theres always some builder looking for parts. If the cylinder head numbers are visible put that in the ad too. The airplane engine builders out there will want to know that.

I'm going. It's an easy show to travel to for me. The plus is I get to see both my Corvair friends that helped me find the Corvair parts for my project and my VW friends that helped with the engine install.

I'm using a stock VW cable shortened and mounted to the lever on the side of the automatic transmission. Then there is a rod from there back to the carb cross shaft. I've had no problems with adjustments so far.....

I see that Vanagon bar, Ive got the under bar which is pretty distinctive. I see you spared no expense, nice cooling fins on the pans and covers. I wish I could share pics but I dont have them on the web as required by samba.

The heat is not a stinker at all, the hot air is ducted out from the shroud above or level to the heads unlike the vw which blows air down and over the exhaust pipes.

One more question, bus has a cable throttle while corvair has rods from pedal to carb, have you had any problems getting the idle adjusted right?

I talked with the owner of clarks corvair parts, cal.

Its true that the kits are no longer available but the good news is that they still have a few of the forward transmission mount adapters. This along with the CV axle adapter are the critical parts for installing Corvair motor and PG trans in a bus.

Smile

Yes, those are the only parts of the kit I got from Clarks.

I used a Vanagon bar that was cut and welded to the stock Corvair rear motor mount. The engine hangs down from the bar, instead of being under the engine as with the stock TransVair kit. It's a stronger way to mount the engine. It's on a stock rubber motor mount in the right on this picture.

The trans mount is from an early bus and believe me it's bolted up. There are a couple holes you don't use. Anyway the motor hasn't fallen out yet. Very Happy
