I made a good footrest, but sold it with YellowBird. It's a box design rather than a bar. I should borrow it back long enough to make some construction plans to hand out.
It is basically a specially-shaped box made of plywood, that fits snugly in the space at the foot of the passenger seat, wedged between the seat pedestal and the kick panel. The box has a carpeted lid for feet, and room inside to store stuff. Too bad I don't have a better pic of it, but here you can see the top of it in front of the seat:
How many people would be interested in plans for such a box? _________________ John

I think the one you're referring to was made by sxuxrxf. Check his gallery for further pics and details.

Lastly, you just referred to US citizens as 'Americans'. Exactly what kind of Canadian are you? From what continent? |

I got the idea from the "komfort bar", which at the time, was selling for well over $200. I didn't want to pay that much and also didn't like the design. It was very easy to get your foot stuck and fall out of the bus!
It is advertised in the April '07 issue of HotVW's in the Foreign Unlimited ad for $195. The website is no longer in use.
Here's the only pic I could come up with:

So I take it you're not making the little bar rest thingy. I'd sure be interested in paying you for one of those.
That box idea is a good one too. Hmmmmm. _________________ Celer, Silens, Letalis

I just put a 12-pack of beer on the floor and my passengers love it, and tell me it keeps their feet nice and cool too! |

So what we need is some enterprising person with welding skills (or the right connections) to make a bunch to sell here on The Samba...hmmm...that sounds familiar...outside the bus table...
Anyway...I would buy one in an instant! _________________ Cheers!

Seconded. My wife struggles to find somewhere to put her feet in the bus and finds it uncomfortable on long trips. |

I've been thinking about highway pegs and cruise control for the drivers seat... _________________ 1971 Westfalia with a high top.
