i was thinking if there was enought material on top and bottom why not just use two u-bolts? _________________ proud owner of a defunct 1979 sunroof kombi

I am interested but would like to know if it interfers with removing/replacing kick panel? |

I could make 'em with a bit more material on top and bottom to accomodate various mounting styles. _________________ (ignore the X's ) |

The bar must be removed to access the kick panel. _________________ (ignore the X's ) |

So then I guess this rules out welding the the bar end to the heat pipe portion. Still interested.... _________________ Celer, Silens, Letalis

There was a thread a while back about how everyone wanted a roo bar, but no one would make one.
I'd like one of these in the future, but I have to put a floor in first. |

Hey, send me plans, I'll make them!
I could definitely use the cash, and have got nothing but free time! _________________ 1973 Bay Window - Maggie the Magical Mystery Bus

as borrowed from Sxuxrxf's gallery.......
top view of foot rest for bay window. 1 1/2" tubing with 1/8" plate for end pieces. 5/16" holes. Tapped the door pillar and used "nut-serts" for the air tube. See my other pictures for installed view.
slight curve to match the air tube

Nope. Many people liked it but there wasn't enough interest to be worth it, just like the Tiki Torch Brackets.
I sold the bus a year ago, but if you look around you'll find it for sale again. You could own the original! _________________ (ignore the X's ) |

How are you with woodworking? I could make some plans for the box (if anyone is still interested in that) and send them to you. I've been meaning to do this anyway, but have been occupied with other hobbies.
The box is nice in that it is far more comfortable on the feet than the bar, and it is very handy for storage. _________________ John

Do you have a picture of the box? I would like to see it... _________________ Caleb

All I have at the moment is the one in my first post. I need to stop by the current owner's house to borrow the box for awhile. then I can take measurements and pix.
But, as you can (maybe) see, it has a carpeted top. What you probably cannot see is that the top has a "bend" in it, so that the slope is a bit higher toward the front. The sides are just vertical walls, and the bottom also has a bend in it to match the shape of the floor. On the left wall (on the side next to the shifter) there are tabs that stick out fore and aft to wedge the box in and keep it from sliding around. _________________ John

Ah, well seeing as the majority of my free time goes to building sets for shows, I would say I'm pretty kickass at woodworking. _________________ 1973 Bay Window - Maggie the Magical Mystery Bus
