See if they will get close to other advertised prices. Generally about $10 a tire to have them mounted and balanced anyway + they need to make some money to stay around.

Exactly. I went to a Discount chain and they tried to talk me into the usual passenger car tires, but after talking to the manager, got him to match the $56 each price on Tirerack.com for vanco 8, shipped from the east coast, $11 per tire, and 3 days later they were on my van. $300 total. D rated. Very stiff sidewalls. (no squishy crap around the corners). 1874 lbs. load 102. 28,000 on them now and they look like they've got a long way to go. Haven't done any driving in the snow, but I've done some full brake testing when it was raining, and it seemed fine to me. |
