Saint76,
I used to be big time into Lionel trains. I still have the set I had when I was about 6 years old. Some years ago, I got back into collecting them. Then it got too expensive and I gave it up...and went back to VW's Laughing

Anyway, it looks to me you have some postwar cars there, plastic with metal trucks. I'm no expert by any strech of the imagination, but I'd have to say they could be worth anywhere between 20.00 to 40.00 each....?

What model transformers do you have? The ZW's can bring some pretty good money if in good shape. The track isn't worth anything to speak of unless it's Super 'O'.

Regards,
Tom

Super "O" has a thin copper center rail and a lot of plastic ties, giving the track a more realistic look. Check eBay under Lionel Super O for pictures.

I just went thru a friends and priced his post war stuff. Maybe $40-$60 for it all. Even some new in box cars and engines were not even selling for less than $10. Pre-war now theres the money! Just sold off a collection for around $1500. The track on those is almost wothless thou. If anybody collects the older and needs some track I have a box full of pre-war track you can have, buyers did not want it and was left out of most to save on shipping.

Not really a collector but just have the stuff my wife and I had when we were was a kid - it looks very similar to the above along with some train crossings, a water tower and a station.

Also have some nice märklin trains. Actually like them a little better because of the better detail.

My friends dad was big into them, had a lay out in back patio that took up like 30 feet long and 8 wide. Was like 1 you'd see in museum. Own little train world LOL.He took it down n packed it away. Every time I'd come across cars I'd pass em to him. Wish I'd taken some pics of the set-up, mountain ranges, rock quarry, town square, and all (he made himself) Grandkids will prolly inherit it all someday

When you set it up, if there are any problems, pm me and I'll help you. That's cool that you have your uncle's stuff. Memories. That's what it's all about.

My brother was given (and still has) a train set given to him by a great-uncle who worked for Lionel in New York. It has this cool "helicopter car" that, thru a wind-up mechanism in a flat-bed, is sparked by a "hot track", spinning the blades of the chopper and shooting it into the air. Of course, after numerous eyes were knocked out, Lionel suspended the "helicopter car" making my bro's set a little rare (or so an old train guy said).

I've been assured it has been willed to me Wink
