A few years ago I spotted this old bike with another being thrown out... been sitting in the neighbors garage for years.
It has old city bike permits from the early 70s... couldn't see it going to the can so I took it.
I put a new seat on it and new tires... cruise the hood with my kids on it now.

Bought a Raleigh M8000 a while ago with these Spynergy wheels on it. I paid $75 for the whole bike with $300+ worth of wheels. I put them on my ProFlex and Voila!... All the bike I couldn't afford when I was in college for a mere $275!! I figured it would have been $5600 worth of bike adjusted for inflation. Carbon Girvin fork, Kooka cranks, Control Tech stem and seat post...I couldn't be happier. Of course now, I'm fat and old, so I just putt around on it.

Always like the Girivn fork. Also really wanted a Lawill Leader. Never could afford either.
I liked the AMP Research fork, too.

There was one in our craigslist recently. On a Fuji, I think...for $175 for the whole bike.
*edit*
Still there!

Horst Leitner turned AMP Research into an automotive aftermarket company that is still operating today.

Got my son his first real mountain bike for his birthday. Turns out the back seat is just big enough for a 20" bike.

Awesome. How old is he? My daughter is almost 5, and I can't wait to get her on a mountain bike. _________________ "In any racing engine, the nearer you are to it disintegrating, the better it's performance will be"

I used to build middle weights, funny how you get stuck on something and they all look the same.

My "vintage" Trek 1000. Bonded aluminum. Purchased it new in 1988. Since getting back into cycling in 2011, I've replaced just about every component. The only original parts left on the frame are the seat post bolt and cable guide on the underside of the bottom bracket. Currently running SRAM Force 2x10, FSA SLK carbon crank, Charge (Fabric) saddle, Fabric water bottles and a bunch of Ritchey bits. Weighs in around 18.5 pounds with pedals.

|
|
Been away from this forum for a bit doing other stuff, just finished a
project that I started in 2013.
I am an absolute fan of the movie, as I am sure many are, The World’s
Fastest Indian. As a tribute to what Burt Munro achieved in his small
corner of the planet I have been working on my version of an Indian.
All be it scrapped together from what I could find, she is not the same
model as Burt’s nor a streamliner, trying to replicate a 1914 single
cylinder Indian with a few twists, The World’s Slowest Indian!
Started with a pile of cut up bike parts, can you see a motorcycle in there?
Here is the paper plan with plan then cut out the bits I needed.
Welded together as a roller.
As stated above a few twists, that is a electric bike kit with a twist
grip throttle around 25kph flat out.
Really wanted to replicate an old bike look so red oxide as primer and various
techniques salt masking, top coat and oil washes to achieve this.
Rode her around like this for a bit, was never happy as she wasn’t finished.
Bit of detail, had to have the right head badge, so spent a day cutting and filing
these out of a piece of copper pipe.
Second twist wanted to complete the deception with a fake engine, mainly
plywood, and other bits and pieces scrounged from here and there.
The finished product used an old primes kerosene light base as the headlight and
that’s where the electric engine controller lives.
Third twist she can be converted to a Boardtracker, different seat and handle
bars, no front fender and cut down rear fender. Google Boardtrack racing some
wild stuff back in the day!
Couple of Indians the Lowest and the Slowest!

That is a really cool project. The "fake" engine came out really nice.
What's the story on the electric drive system? Front hub motor it appears? _________________ nothing |
