Are there any differences that would define a 63 rag sunroof from a 57? I know there are "three folds" but when did those changes happen?

i believe that from 57 on they were the same. 56 is still 2-fold but has square
rear corners and round fronts and 55 and earlier is 3-fold.
not exactly sure about the handles since i've only owned a 56 and 55 but 55 and earlier are ribbed and 56 on are not. not sure if there are any more changes to it after 56.
someone will chime in if i'm missing something |

Yes.
3 folds have a crease/groove down the middle like the door handle and window winder like this:
3 Fold Ragtop handles are like finding hen's teeth - believe me, I need one!
2 folds have a solid handle, like the door handle and the window winder like this:
Eventually, they went to a folding type handle like this:

- 55/3 folds have the grooved handle.
56 - 62 have a solid handle
In 63 they went to a folding handle (deluxe only). _________________ Cheers,

No I own a late 55 with a golde. The car without the golde is an early 55. 55's are bastrds... _________________ ITMC-El Presidente

Can u put a non folding golde handle on a '63? Like if you had a '63 clip and wanted to put in an earlier car could you change out the handle and have a correct looking rag? |

I don't see why not, the folding bit doesn't really serve a function for opening/closing the roof IIRC. _________________ Cheers,

My 56 handle doesn't have the golde script on it. Does that mean it is aftermarket? _________________ 1956 Rag W/ Semaphores |

my 56 has the golde script. so i think your handle could be aftermarket.
i got a question too.
theres a black plate (i donĀ“t know how it is told correct) above the handle. mine is a original ragtop-standard 56. is this right for a standard or did golde use the chromed plate at standards as well?

I also own a late 1955 (June of '55) Deluxe Sunroof that has never been restored and it has the grooved "Golde" handle on it's 3-fold sunroof mechanism.
