Thanks for everyones reply. Last night i check in a Bugpack book i had laying around and it said that you do need the later tie rod ends. I bought this kit at the local VW speed shop and neither the front of the package nor the instructions said anything about the newer ends. I know this kit is made for the spindles but i have a sand rail that has a raised front end so im using it on the pitman arm. |

You drill the steering arm on the spindle and press the bushing in and mount the tie rod from the bottom not on the pitman arm.

Part # on the kit is 6613-11.....the instructions say:
Tie Rod Relocation Bushing
The purpose of this bushing is to reduce bumpsteer in lowered VW Type 1 Sedan with a balljoint front beam.
Thats what i have is a BJ beam, and i thought all BJ front ends were the same. |
66-67 are ball joint, but have smaller sized tie rod ends. _________________ Throw me a bone here. All I wanted were

What year? The later style tie rod ends, 68 and up I believe, are bigger then the earlier ones. _________________ Throw me a bone here. All I wanted were

Anyone have any experience with this kit. I think i just wasted $20 on this piece of crap. Drilled out my pitman arm, tapped the bushings in, went to put the tie rods on, tie rod ends fit way too f*&king loose. Very dissapointed. Am i doing something wrong before i give up? |
