I was in Manhattan today for the NYC Triathlon and had some time to kill so my son and I passed by the Apple store. We checked out the iPhone and it's pretty cool but it's still a toy.
Sorry for the poor picture but it was on a cell phone camera
You can barely read the screen and the keys are way too small.
Give it a few more years and the iPhone will be like when cell phones came in a bag and had to be carried like a handbag. _________________ Glenn

You can zoom in on internet websites with the iPhone. Also, you can get samba RSS feeds right on your phone...which means you can get updates of items for sale and message board updates on the samba.
The first few seconds on this video shows how you can ZOOM websites.

I know but it's a PITA.
I'll keep my laptop with a 14" wide format screen, full size keyboard and Verizon broadband card. It's a real PC and it's faster than that crappy ATT service on the iPhone. _________________ Glenn

I can read The Samba just great on my Motorola Q Smartphone.
You can either format it so that it fits the 320x240 resolution screen (splits the frames out seperately and displays them one after the other), or you can view it in full size (which requires you to scroll around to see the whole thing).
The only drawback is I have yet to find a browser that will let me post replies from the Q.
Hey, a partial Samba fix is always better than no Samba at all. |

For anyone that's interested in viewing/posting to The Samba from a Windows Mobile based Smart Phone, I came across a link to the free jB5 mobile browser application which does enable you to post to The Samba from your Smart Phone.
Actually, it looks as if there are versions that will run on other types of web enabled cell phones as well. |

I regularly surf / post on TheSamba from my Treo 750 (Windows Mobile). I bought the iPhone for my wife 1 week after it came out. It is every bit a good as they say. It makes my Treo look like a toy! I'll try to post up some clearer pics. _________________ 1964 Type 1 |

Does the iPhone do Javascript and/or Flash?
...because these days, that's half of the internet. _________________ «•Lie Down... Good Bug•» |

I've read quite a few reviews of the iPhone and they were all positive. Being a nerd myself, I can see how it would be best to wait until the second generation comes out - all the bugs will be worked out by then.
I think it's pretty freakin' cool myself.

Came across this post today when a search led me astray. pretty funny now, almost 10 years later. Although I'd love a Samba App for iPhone! _________________ '79 Westy FI/AC/Auto

It's amazing that 10 years ago, Glenn called an IPhone a toy and that they'd be like phones carried in a handbag(cough cough iPhone 7 plus ). I do most of my Sambaing on my IPhone 6s. Now we need a Samba app. _________________ '67 Beetle L41

I never understood the app thing. I think this is the best layout of any forum I've been on and the best part is it looks exactly the same on my phone. _________________ 1964 Beetle

Yeah I really don't care if there is an app or not. I can navigate on my laptop and phone super easy. I'm just saying that for basically 10 years a ton of people have asked for an app and there still isn't one. _________________ '67 Beetle L41

Screen sizes are large enough that you don't need an app.
I frequent some sites that have an app and never use it. _________________ Glenn
