I have seen a lot of cup holders and here is the one I like the best. It comes in two styles a standard and deluxe, the deluxe has a pocket on the front for cell phone (pocket is big enough for Iphone or BB). The cup holders are made of 16 Ga. metal. The cup holders are stable enough to 1 liter water bottles or even the tall wine bottle. The cool thing about this is they bolt on to your existing ashtray sleeve after removing cover. The ashtray is still fully functionally, moves in out and locks in. The shop that makes them can do upgrades to the cup holder for an individual’s, like plasma cut designs or initials in the front and custom powder coating at additional fees or get a raw one and do it yourself. The manufacture has talked about doing one with side reliefs for coffee cup handle to slide down. Check out the pics and let me know what is thought as these are not in productions yet, my friend the manufacture produced two standards and one deluxe (PICTURE TO COME). He is considering full production just needs input from the BEST Community in the World "SAMBA" . ALL incites are welcome. |
I want one. |

Shaved a piece of 2x4 to fit in the ashtray. Then picked up a cup holder from Walmart. Added a tapered shim under the cup holder to make the cup holder sit level.

Well, since the last time I posted on this subject, I have done some changes to my cupholder.
I went from this,
to this,
I got the idea from a guy that makes "BuddyBoxes" over in the UK. I originally didn't want anything in-between the seats, but as the years have gone by, I have noticed we very rarely walk between them. Seeing the Buddybox, I decided I would love to have one. I told a friend of mine and he had his friend make one for me. Not as good as the original Buddybox, but much cheaper then having one sent overseas.
Here are a few more pics of it. I added some personal touches.
I also decided after having to clean up a mess in the back of the bus, to ad some cupholders back there too. This first one about killed me to do. I really didn't want a hole in my cabinet, but then decided i would rather have a cupholder for the back passengers then to clean up messes. It will also double as phone holder when I'm sleeping back there. (My phone is my clock.)
So that is my updated cupholders. _________________ Kim

Can anybody make these? Looks fairly simple and would certainly look/work better than screwing a make-shift plastic cup holder to the dash!

Madmatz will ship from the UK but it's 50GBP.

It’s been mentioned before but personally I like the roll of duct tape cup holder. Takes up no room. Its there only when you need it. Dual purpose. Holds most cups. Pass around the rolls of tape to guests if needed. Takes up no room. I like to keep the walk through clear of stuff. Simple, not permanent, works great, cheap, checks all my boxes. _________________ 71 Westy 1600 DP, all stock Bus 1

It's pretty simple but I use a simple milk crate between the seats and zip tied a cheapy cup holder to it I purchased from my local FLAPS. _________________ '78 Bus 2.0FI

I need a backup for whatever cupholder came with my bus… I know it's going to snap off randomly one day…
What smartphones does the Aircooled Accessories cupholder fit? The new bloated mega-phones with rubber cases?

Tested it with my iPhone 11 Pro Max, has no issues.
Ya know, you gotta have the bigger screen to watch Netflix and Hulu on shitty nights camping. _________________ The Bus Barn Ltd. Co.

Case or no case? I could go on for days about how most cases on the market either get stuck in, or slide too easily out of my Dickies coveralls… Now it's the same for cupholders.
Maybe 1969 had it right… We wouldn't have been talking about any of this nonsense because there weren't any cupholders or cell phones to talk about on the internet. We'd all be out, on the road.
See you there,

I can go simpler. The milk crate is light, movable, and great storage. One day I will get around to switching the cardboard box for wood.
