For those of you who are wondering if my Ghia has arrived in Southampton yet...you weren't, oh. Well I'm gonna tell you anyway.

No it hasn't Sad It was supposed to arrive last week but due to "port congestion,"(no berth available) my container was taken to Antwerp, offloaded and put on another container ship to bring it back to Southampton.

It's now due on Monday, the day I fly out to Spain for a 2 week vacation Rolling Eyes I have a couple of mates who will collect it from the docks and drive it the 3 miles to my home so it won't be sat on the dockside for long.

Can't wait for the end of my holiday Shocked Don't think I've ever said that before. Laughing

Three IDs...the first from the VW Tourist Scheme, the second the OG CA plate and the third the later CA plate. Just a new UK plate to add when I get it registered.

John,

very nice to see the ghia made it safely! Maybe you mentioned before, but will this get a 36hp/judson combo?

This essential piece of Ghia kit was found in the trunk.

We've never had these in the UK for road use. A NOS box of safety flares Very Happy

Anyone want to trade for a new set of Lowlight bumpers Laughing

All or most of the chrome is heavily pitted and a few dings over the years.

Congrats on it's safe arrival. You and the Ghia look very distinguished Cool
Strap those flares into a bundle and walk into your local bank. You may end up with what you need for new bumpers and much more !
I'll keep the Ghia safe for you while your on an extended leave of absence Wink

Was that distinguished or extinguished Laughing Wink

The idea with the flares looks a non-starter. After several arrests by the style-police for wearing purple chushed velvet loon-pants in 1970 I swore never to wear flares again. Embarassed

I've not posted pictures for a while as I was waiting until I had the rims powdercoated, painted and the Firestone Whitewall fitted.

So now that I've fixed all that...I'll let you see. Very Happy

You might notice I've gone for the Euro style bumpers (SS from Harringtons via Mike at House of Ghia)...not correct for my car but done for purely aesthetic reasons. I love the clean lines that show off the curves of the Lowlight nose.

Wow, it looks great now!
Is that still the original paint?

Could you tell me what sizes those Firestones are?

Thanks for the compliments guys. Very Happy

No it has one repaint. The Firestones are 5.60x15.

John, you really should be proud! You have a truly beautiful Ghia. Can we see some interior, engine and trunk shots? Cool

Thanks, I'm pleased how it looks. There's still a fair amount to do which includes the interior and engine bay so the pictures I posted at the beginning of this topic are still relevant.

The engine bay is next on the list. The engine is a '65 40hp but that will be staying, just checking what kind of shape it's in...seems fine apart from an oil leak (probably main seal). The tinware will be powdercoated when I pull the engine to cure the leak.

Hopefully May or June time it will be ready for a Vintage Speed addition. Very Happy
