Our local big-box "buyer's club" store (Costco) does very nice canvas prints of photos as well, for extremely reasonable prices.

Thanks Drake.

I guess you're right in that I'm a "pictorialist" who likes to place the car in a landscape...which would give space for text to be added around the car. Even modern car advertising likes to place their product in an evocative landscape be it urban cityscape or in the deserts of the south west.

I though it was about time I had a picture of my Ghia on the wall so I had a canvas print made. The standard of printing from online stores is excellent these days, can't fault it.

This day will live in infamy and sadness, Kitsch is alive and well in many areas of The Samba but to have to look at a Kincade when I visit? And in John Moxon's gorgeous thread!? It's just too much... Mad

Hope there's a moderator somewhere who can rectify this travesty...

Everything any sane person would ever want to know about thatched roofs. Thanks, John! Very Happy

Among the tidbits:

11. How long does it take to thatch a roof?
Dependant upon the size of roof and number of thatcher’s. A family sized four bedroom, detached house would probably take a team of three men about one month.

It takes four men two days to remove the old roof and put on a new tar-shingle one in my area for a similar-sized house. Wow.

Sorry for the hijack. Back to John's Karmann Ghia.

Not to hijack this thread, but it does seem to dwell on things John Moxon. Since you mentioned thatched roofs, I recall that traditional thatched roofs attract all manner of bugs and other critters who like to live in the stuff. Do "modern" thatched roofs have ways of overcoming that? And is there a way to fireproof them, and to waterproof them so they don't get moldy?

Thankfully I don't have to worry about caring for a thatched roof...I don't have one. The answers to your quetions? I haven't a clue. Wink
Google the questions...this is one site about caring for them: http://www.thatchingadvisoryservices.co.uk/Thatch_Guide.asp

"HDR"...I learned something new today. Thanks! When I'm in the market for a new camera I'll look for one with HDR capability.

Nice pull...Kincade visited John one autumn at his country villa. Right next to the John Entwistle estate... Wink John, aren't you just down the road from Roger Daltrey now? Cool
