So I went and started yet another project.
The humble beginnings.

Those have pretty nice lines. I like kit cars that look more like the 2L, 1.6L, 1.3L, 1.0L, etc sports racers that raced at LeMans , etc in the 60s. The Abarths, Porsche 904, Ferrari 206, Alpine A110, Matra Djet, etc.
The problem with the VW pan based closed cars is they don't have enough head room. I REALLY like the way a Puma looks but at 6'1'' forget about it. |

The idea is something flavored like this. The old silver and red and probably have a number 73 on it (was the daughters number when she raced dirt track).
But I have already departed from that.
I came across those 17 x 7 wheels and could not resist. So those might just get painted red. _________________

Always liked these kits. Those wheels are way to big and modern for it though, but it's not my car. That body style screams for some widened 66-67 5 bolt wheels especially if you go with a vintage go fast paint scheme.

I can agree there is a classic look with the wide 5's
But I dont have any wide 5 stuff left.
It is on a later IRS pan.
Those enkei wheels are quite old.....around 25 yrs and out dated....but I like em.
But yep.....they are still way newer than anything on the car. _________________

Messed up and started posting on wrong thread.
Repost and continue here.
Went digging in my junk pile again.
Found this knock down chassis kit. It is almost like getting stuff for free when you find stuff you had long forgotten about. This thing is older than all my kids. It was in a very old pile and I think it was for a mid engine bug drag car.

I found (in a much newer junk pile) an add on sump.
Located a set of 3.88 gears that have been in my hands fairly recently.
Also an AH case that need a line bore. I suppose it could be back up if the AK that is in the car is bad. _________________

I've always liked that body style, interested to follow along. |

Those bodies always reminded me of Jim Hall’s Chaperall racing cars from the 1960’s Cam- Am racing series.🏁🏁🏁🏁👍👍👍👍 |

Still digging through my piles of junk.
2-1/2 gal of resin and a lot of cloth and a couple packets of matt.
Viper red paint t for the stripe and wheels.
Gas tank sealer.
Cb 26mm in out pump.
Ceramic for headers, piston tops,ect
Cb 2241 (about a w110) cam.
Pressure plate bolts.
And I also found my older cb modified 041 heads. At one time i had all the parts to rebuild them but i have not found the parts yet. If the parts don't show up i then doubt I will put any money in them, instead just buy something else. _________________

Trying out the painted wheels idea.
A really old set of 17 x7 Enkies.
Painted one red just to see if I like it or not. Never have done painted wheels......in my head wheels are supposed to be aluminum/silver.
I am gonna mount a 205/40 r17 on it and look at it a while.
But so far.....I am liking it......differently.

The drop spindles, disc brakes and front end parts are ordered on on the way.
Also got the small front tires, bus nose cone and a few misc small parts.
I think I have enough stuff to start re-making the chassis and make the roll cage. And begin on re-mounting the body. _________________

The 205 40's ready for the front.
Compared to a tire close to the desired size for rear.

Some parts made it here.
But here in the deep south winter = rain.
Any chance I have to do any outside work it is raining.
I did get the quick disconnect mounted to the wheel.

Hodaka's were very popular dirt bikes in the 60s and 70s. Their transmission engaged the gears using the same idea that your QD hub uses. |

The new front parts all fitted up for the 5 x100mm m12x1.5 metric wheels.
Just had a day off and not raining. I got the little car tore down.
A lot of good news and bad.
The bad....was already known floor boards and botched shortening job.
The good.....the engine after sitting outside nearly 30 years (not on ground) was not full of water and was not stuck. It probably has some stuck valves.
The brakes were full of fluid and not stuck. The reservoir crumbled to dust and splashed fluid out as soon as I touched it. _________________
