Hardboard visors a different color?
Here is a shot of the DS and PS sun visors from my 1-61 Kombi/camper.
Image may have been reduced in size. Click image to view fullscreen.

They are clearly different colors. The lighter one does not appear to have been repainted. Were there different colors to match the various color schemes of early buses?

741 ice blue and 744 silver beige. Depends what color your bus was. You can check under technical to see what your bus came with.

The Ice Blue and Silver Beige are for the padded visors.
On the hardboard visors the grey ones are for Commercial buses
and the cream ones are for Mango passenger buses. The deLuxe
version would have chrome plated metal and a brown painted hardboard...

You will also find that there were different manufactures of these through the years.

Anyone have an idea when they switched from hardboard to padded? David Eccles was no help!

It depends on the model. The deLuxe buses had a padded visor
from 59-61, while the other models were still using the hardboard.
I believe all models had padded visors for the 1962 model year and beyond...

grey hardboard:
commercial models '55-'61
standards '55-'58

beige hardboard:
standards '59-'61

brown hardboard with chrome:
deluxes '55-'58

in april '61, the hardboard visors got a plastic base rather than the metal base.

deluxes were the only model to have two visors. all other models had one visor unless someone installed one after it was new. dealerships or owners don't always seem to be picky about making them match. my '58 westy has a chrome one on the passenger side, which has been there since at least the early '70s.

True that ^^^^ and it should be in the Most Random NOS thread if it's not already. On my screen it looks like it has 3 rivets for the hinge whereas Lind's looks like two rivets.

the middle one is a screw. you are seeing the backside of it on mine, and the front side of it on the NOS one.

Most likely it is the pattern of the vinyl. The earlier ones are a very fine pebbling versus coarser on the later ones. The color appears to be grey on the top one and "white" on the bottom one.

I wanted to confirm this visor is indeed for EITHER a Commercial bus or a Standard bus 55-58:

Although the pictures don't really show it, the paint is more like the color used in early split window bugs L71 than gray.

Can anyone pinpoint the correct application?

Thanks.

L71 is a Beige, correct?

I agree with the breakdown Lind posted above so if they are Beige they are 59-61 Standard Microbus.

anyone sure what years or models of 55-61 buses recieved a visor that has the imprinted pattern, and which ones got the plain painted board with no pattern? or was it just a ramdom thing/different manfactures?

Just picked this commercial hard board visor up of here. I've been watching them since they came up all the time for $20-40! Honestly my Kombi's going into storage again for a few years.

Originally it had a perfect one, but the seller kept a few choice parts of my very OG bus. Visor - swapped out the OG great seat - tool roll & jack.

My Kombi has so much history and the previous single owner was so fastidious at keeping records I am sure it would have come with plenty of OG fixtures. My mind still wanders what else would have come with it if he's left well alone.

RANT OVER! Very Happy

Anyway the price of these part just keeps going up and up and I didnt want to blow $200 on one of these! Very Happy And I had to fill the holes!

NOW THAT IS RETAIL THERAPY! Very Happy

Going to see how well I can massage the rust / sticker gunk off.

THATS JUST THERAPY. Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy

Any way my question is screws - Grey or pop for these???
