I'm new to bugs I have restored classic Jaguars and Mercedes for years but I'm now on a classic Bug kick. I do custom wood working and was just wondering if anyone has every gone with a more classic luxury look with veneered wood in a bug? I plan on doing it to mine and was just curious if anyone one knew if this has been done on a custom bug or if there is any interest in it? |

It's been done with veneers, especially on ghias where the thought of replacing the original orange fake wood just makes some people suicidal.

there is possibly a small market for 58 on rhd bugs, with the dash panels. LHD bugs could get gauge sets with wooden panels made by empi etc but I have never seen these available for RHD cars where the owners would want the same look. For them to look authentic, they would have to be made with some pretty dodgy 70's looking wood though, which you might not be keen to do!
Cheers, Si. |
