does a engine warrenty transfer to a new owner?

Motor has a 1 year 12,000 mile warrenty. I bought the car the motor is now only 6 months old with less than 2,000 miles. should the builder honor the warrenty?

Paper warranty's are worthless. Unless the builder is local you'll have to remove and ship the engine to get it fixed. And that's never covered.

most warranty's from the shelf to the door! I would ask the guy who offered the warranty and ask about the transfer. maybe a small fee would be all it takes.

it seems like the cam drive gear is loose on the crank. there is 1/4 inch slop when you turn the bottom pulley in the direction that the motor turns. keyway in crank is good. it does not seem to be end play.

could it be a beatup keyway in the pulley?

im not sure i follow on how you assume its going to "blow up"

maybe its just cos ive had a few drinks. though.
either way id contact the builder and have a talk with them see if they will look it over for you, afterall he / she did build it and should know that motor better than anyone else Smile

If you still have contact with the previous owner, talk him into taking it down there and you paying for any kinda 'extra's, while his name gets the warranty work taken care of. The builder never has to know who actually owns the car...
