Now your turn. Show it if you got it. |

Any other So-33’s? Here’s one that’s been off road for 25+ years. Still on original bias ply tires. Very low miles. Original to bus roof rack and full tent.
It hasn’t been out of garage in 20+years except to get washed few years ago. Ran then and I helped do new brakes at that time.
Repainted before patina was in.
Owner lives few miles from me and hopefully is going to get drivable to take to local shows soon.
Never been shown before.

My wife and I have this tourist delivery 1963 SO33 Westfalia with 59,000 original miles, outside respray about 14 years ago, door jambs in it's original.
Correct long rack, NOS tent that has never been fully unfolded, mint child's cot, original chandelier, Continental spare, mint Bilstein jack, Coleman stove, loads of vintage European water transfer decals on the windows, and the original Blaupunkt radio turns on, lights up, hums, and will need servicing to play tunes but everything is there so maybe it's just oxidation from not being turned on for decades that is the issue. Original logoed glass, both original copies of the key that work everything, solid, dry, never abused.
We were lucky enough to have been invited to the 2019 Quail Motorsports Gathering in Carmel Valley California which had a special Transporter display celebrating 70 years of the Volkswagen Transporter. Incredible day, hope you enjoy the photos!

Beautiful bus. Odd it came with a tent but no mounts? Did they remove them when they did the respray and never put them back? _________________ Go Reds! Smash state!

oh wow. I don't keep up with the Samba much, but I popped in today thinking about starting a thread on the winter refresh of my '64 SO33 that's been going on... and I found this!
OK, so here we go:
my 1964 L380, Tourist Delivery SO-33 that I've owned since 1997..
A few years after I bought the bus, I was able to recover the actual original tent that it came with! That will be a story for it's own thread I guess...
The bus, and tent hadn't been out much in the last few years but we went to the "FunFest for ACVW" in Effingham IL last summer, and I set up the tent for the 1st time in like 10 years I think.
Back in October, I started cleaning it up in what was just supposed to be a cut & buff, but there's been quite a bit of mission creep since then...

My 63 SO33 with not a lot of OG interior…there is a thread “Is This Bus Worth Saving” on here if anyone wants to see how far it’s come:

Took some pictures of my friends 1963 so33 has been off road for 25+ years bought from original owner in Montana 30+years ago. Owner finally going to get back on road. Took original bias tires/wheels off today to get new tires on. Had been painted before original paint was a thing. His wife sprayed some bleach/cleaner when cleaning upholstery after they first got it and bleached color out of camper upholstery, so he replaced with what’s shown. Original pillows show what the pattern was. Has the full sized tent in yellow and gray. One picture shows pear wood? Graining on icebox. Took picture of original screw that hold wardrobe cabinet in place, you can see the original and respray tone in that picture. This bus has a couple of screens for pop out window added on in USA or was it a Westfalia option? Took pictures of side door panel/card made from Formica, looks original and owner swears it is.
