How does a hard top secure to the body?
I just got a hard top but it has no hardware. |

The front edge of the top attaches to the top of the windshield with the same latches that are used on the soft top. The rear of the top attaches with 7 "L" brackets to the inside of the cargo area with bolts that thread into captured nuts. Then, if you have the side supports, they bolts to the inside of the door piller. |

I have some hard top hardware from my old top available, I can send you pics if you want to see what's involved - I'm at work right now so can't be of any immediate help _________________ // '73 Thing "Jeep Zerstörer" currently being restored / kustomized

here you go:
Those two beams go from the door pillar and attach to the top, those metal brackets (mine rusted right off my top) should already be attached to your top and you should have 7 or so of them, you need the hood latches (not pictured), and then those bolts and that's it
here's a pic of the top installed before it broke apart:
hope that helps some _________________ // '73 Thing "Jeep Zerstörer" currently being restored / kustomized

Thanks
Are the beams for support in case you put some thing on top or do they need to be in place to keep the fiberglass from flexing?
No metal brackets are attached |

I'd say they're there for both reasons, as for the brackets, mine were riveted right onto the hard top :-/ can't seem to find anyone that sells them online either _________________ // '73 Thing "Jeep Zerstörer" currently being restored / kustomized

The side posts came on the tops sold by the dealerships. The tops sold by other independent vendors did not have them... |
