So would anyone be interested in a 76 beetle convertible that is 99 percent original and was painted at the factory a special porsche 914 color and only 2 or 3 exist in the world. The color is a bright green.
It was a wedding gift for someone that is closely connected to the VW family back then.
It has a full leather interior (factory)
It has high pressure washers for the headlights (factory)
It has a rear seat tonneau cover (factory customized)
It has around 40k original miles.
Post your response, I like to get an idea of how special it is.
Anyone out there have something as rare/ different?
Pics to come/ possible sale/ more details later |

Probably washer nozzles that spray directly onto the headlamps when the windshield washer is engaged.
Be a neat trick to add to a daily driver. |

Would there be proof in the form of documentation that the car was built this way from the factory and not customized? _________________ Ghia Owner Emeritus |

Yes I would think the VW birth Certificate would be the proof.
VW seemed to keep good records so I think documentation should be easy.
Karmann built VW convertibles & also 914 bodies it seems very possible they could / would do a custom VW convertible.

Not sure the Birth Certificate would be much help. It may show the color but not sure about the custom options since they would not have been in the VW order book.
From my experience they don't show the whole picture. For example, I don't think they show cars that were ordered with an AutoStick.
However, its worth a try. _________________ Ghia Owner Emeritus |

I didn't get much info on my 76 certificate, but mine wasn't very special. Pics would be interesting.

As cool as it is to find old VWs that have been sitting since the '70s, most of these are cut up (buses especially) and smell like weed and feet. Sad |

Hmmmm.... I don't think that is any glowing of convincing endorsement. I've seen the rich/famous perpetrate some pretty incredible shcemes to (fool and) impress their friends. If anything it would cause me to be more suspesct, vice less. _________________ --

Im a bus guy. |

the pics don't show anything that would indicate "factory customized". Any of those things could have been added later. I see a pic of a top-boot...is that the "rear seat tonneau cover"? Wolfsburg West color chart shows a Viper Green color available for '76 verts.
Not trying to discredit you, just need real documentation. |
