Creeky Bug work commuting, Wednesday, June 5th, 2019... Still haven't done a ton of shakedown driving with this current wheels & tires setup, but brought a bunch of sockets and a breaker bar with me just in case. Of course the bolts holding the adapters to the car, and the bolts holding the wheels to the adapters are different size, LOL!... Photo is at the Branford, CT I-95 southbound side service plaza, gas-up stop on the way to work this morning... Happy Wednesday...

Was out visiting my dad and he wanted to show me this place. Buc-ee’s is a chain based in Texas which has what I considered a ridiculous business plan but I could be wrong. They have over 200 gas pumps over 100 toilets a full line of clothing and accessories. More food and drinks including hot boudin (you yankee boys haven’t a clue). Just acres of crap for consumers. It was a random visit but I saw 2 bugs at the pumps.....
Place was insane with probably several hundred people,I hate crowds but seems consumers can’t get enough of this crowd mentality. At least 50 different kinds of jerky, full service coffee bar, full service pastries. Pulled pork sandwich’s, just crazy and people pushing to get it all. Buc-ee’s has a wiki page that explains it all in detail.

Buc-ee's ... always wondered how they get away with NOT displaying their gas pump prices, which are stoopid high. I thought that was required.
And thanks for jogging my memory ... running low on Beaver Nuggets.
Beaver Nuggets, YUM
Must get more Beaver Nuggets !
Naw man, I got this, I can quit anytime ... I'll just taper off.
Say bud, got any Beaver Nuggets? I'll adjust your valves or mow the yard !
Ok, look here, ... hand over the Beaver Nuggets and nobody gets hurt, see !
Hi, my name is jinx ( hi jinx ) and I'm addicted to Beaver Nuggets. It all started when this guy said here, try this. He poured a some into my hand. Said that was free. He walked away with this weird smile on his face.
Geez those things are good ... jinx _________________ " It's not valuable unless you learn something from an experience. " Henry Ford

This thread has been asleep awhile but here I am today getting my fuel
I was very impressed with this station which has changed hands from Sinclair and now Phillips 66. They now supply disposable gloves and have hand sanitizers at the pumps. Very nice
And what outing would be complete without coffee and a snack and a newspaper? |

At the fuel pumps in the New York Thruway I-90 rest area, Pattersonville. May, 1998. Several members of the "Der Kaefer Fahrer" club from throughout New England and New York met up at the rest area west of Schenectady, NY to continue west to the Michigan Vintage VW Club meet at VW's Auburn Hills, MI HQ. We have (L to R):
-Guy M (ME), black pre-Zwitter '52
-Bill P (NH), red '53
-Steve H (ME), black & dark red '51
-Norman M (ME), white '67
-Pat A (NY), blue '73 Super Beetle
-Rome (NY), green '77
-Bill C (NH), red & ivory '49 Hebmueller
Not seen (did not need gas) is a white Thing from the local VW club which met us there and convoyed with us to Utica NY. Our convoy traveled into Canada at the 1000 Islands, met up with Canadian VW friends at the rest area in Woodstock, Ontario; continued west to the US border crossing at Port Huron MI and finally to the Fairfield Inn in Pontiac MI near the meet. |
