Does anyone have or has seen one of the special edition bugs VW came out with? I mean like the GT beetle, or the Jeans beetle. |

Yeah that is a great site!. I have a Standard '74 Sunbug thats in a stripped down shell/restoration project at the moment.
too bad that the 75 basic '110 model wasn't classified as a special edition model though!! . Was only around for 75-76. _________________ Be kind to all critters. America's "H8TERZ" can drink sludgy used Motor Oil!

The 110 model was created so that VW could keep the base price of the Beetle below $3000. It was a real stripper-half the headliner was missing, no hub caps, flat door panels with no armrests, , no fresh air inlets, no stale air outlets, no day/night mirror, and little sound deadening material-even the engine compartment was free of that! VW at the time was fighting an uphill battle-the DM vs dollar value had changed drastically by the mid 70s leaving the Beetle at a serious disadvantage compared to its competition. You had to spend a few hundred bucks to upgrade to the Custom Bug to get the missing equipment. I doubt many people actually bought one of the 110s new, which would make it kind of cool to see since they are quite rare. |

George...you've given me a good idea for my own red bug.
I'm from Florida so I know what a real lovebug looks like. Even though it's not a real lovebug edition I think I'll paint it up that way. The red is badly faded and I'm going to have it re-shot but my chrome bumbers look like hell. I was wondering what to do about it. This would be an inexpensive way to go. |

Cool Deal! Because SI beetles have no serial numbers to i.d. them from a basic bug & few if any special parts their collectable value is basically zero.
I realy enjoy my Green Love Bug. Most people can't believe the paint & black trim is how it left the factory. |

George,
I was the one who proposed a registry. I also have a green love bug.

Hi bugn2zs ,
Good to here from you! Yes you did come up with the idea of a registery. So how do we make it happen? Maybe start a tread in this forum. "Post a pic of your Special Edition Bug" What do you think? |

Bugorsh , I don't think the people in the SupersOnly bunch have a registery for Si beetles unless they are 73's in saturn yellow or met. blue. |

It is the original color for the summer edition. Here in the states they used the same color for the NB and called it "Vortex Blue" I have had some interior parts matched with the color codes for the NB and it matched perfectly _________________ 1963 Ragtop
