A little info for everyone:
Dana drive is nice because it is free and there's a nice grass area with a BBQ. The down side is that you can't really go in the water because it is on the channel and it has a limited area for kids.
Doheny Beach is nice because you can park right on the beach and there are enough spots to park 15-20 vans next to each other if a couple of us get there early and "reserve" the rest of the spots. The down side is you have to pay $10.00 to get in........but free with a CA State Park Pass (which everyone should have if you own a Westy)
By th way, good news! My mother-in-law is coming to town that weekend so it looks like I will have a lot more freedom to help organize the get together. I say we set a date for Sunday, October 21st. I can get down there at 6:00 am to reserve some spots and maybe even a little early morning surf. _________________ -Kerry

This is it!!October 21st!Come when you can.We need to get a van count please.I know ,Iknow, it's like hearding cats! It would be nice to know how many vans are going to show up.We really do need some space in the parking lot.Being able to park ALL the vans together is a must!I will be there for sure!!I will start to make a list of who's coming.
Later! Glenn _________________

I probably won't make the October 21st meeting. My wife and I are going to a play that night and parents are going to be in town.
Hopefully we ca meet up on another Thursday night or Weekend night like we did at the beach. Or get some grub and talk vans. |

I dunno....I'm getting a little skeptical because no one has chimed in. Glenn how many do you have confirmed? If we can't get more than a couple people then we'll have to reschedule! _________________ -Kerry

I can come. I will bring (at least) my Subaru SVX harness and let people pet it. (I've been starting on my SVX conversion, and removing the wiring harness has been a bit more work that I had budgeted.) *wink*

As a note, it's helpful maybe to PM the Cap'n so he can have an accurate headcount of yes / no / maybe.
My PM is going off now - I'm in. |

hurra!
Count me in.
Ah, that means a 2K drive.
I'll do it some day.
I know you folks are having fun and planning good times ahead, but what I've found is to post these events in the Camping Forum. Bays and Splits will join you too.
The more the merrier.
Good times around the Campfire and to meet others. _________________ Happy Trails!

Tiki,
I'm not against that, though I do think that having the earlier busses runs the risk of diluting the desire to Vanagon it. Don't forget, we live in Air-cooled heaven. I see at least 5-7 random VWs on any given day ~ they freakin' last forever here.
There are so many, you end up with this sort of thing:

67 or earlier Only? Seriously? Well, then we have our Vanagon get-togethers... 80-91 ONLY. Heh heh heh
Best,
Lanval |

Drats, I'd love to make it for this, sounds da kine. The 3,000 mile one way drive for the weekend would either knock me out or my Westfalia would die trying . I know, I'll let my Mom in on this gig. She lives overlooking the golf course on Camino de los Mares, just down from the hospital. Look out Grandma's crashin' the GTG - just to keep an eye on all you party heads.

I don't want to step on any toes...
Since I obviously can't make it for the get together [too long a drive from Vermont], I thought I'd whip up a logo design for you fellow native SoCal locals as an offering instead
Whadda think?
ps... don't let the fall color maple leaf reflections in the rear glass throw yaa outta whack. |
