|

Jack brought our 69 FI/automatic home w/generator light on. He went out in the dark and seems to have blown out our VOM & now it won't turn over. I got it to turn over w/shorting across the starter solenoid w/old VOM lead! I have 12.4V @ the neutral switch w/new digital VOM. I'm not sure if I have the 12.4V PAST the neutral switch to the solenoid? I'm thinking the ignition switch runs through the neutral switch? Any ideas what to check next? Mike & Jack |

You are aware that these cars start in "N" and not "P", correct? _________________ Немає виправдання для війни! Я з Україною.

Yeah, I get 12.4V in neutral but not otherwise. |

All right, then, you'll need to check for voltage at the solenoid with the key in the crank position. It's also possible that the ign. switch itself is defective. _________________ Немає виправдання для війни! Я з Україною.

Yeah, I test those same big contacts I used to jump start it? There is at least 1 smaller wire branching off the solenoid. |

So, I need someone to hold the key onto "crank" while I test underneath? |

The smaller wires. The one from the switch should "light up" during crank mode. If the car is still FI there should be two smaller wires with push on connectors going to the solenoid. See if one is off. _________________ Немає виправдання для війни! Я з Україною.

Yes, or use a long jumper wire to your tester. SAFETY!!! _________________ Немає виправдання для війни! Я з Україною.
