Welcome to the club, radiofish. I can't help with the trim, but the pronunciation is the first you list, as there is an accent grave over the e in Safare . Your '72 looks good. Don't be afraid to delve into the manuals and do your own work.
I see your Safare decal is worn. I'd like to get together with Safare owners and find someone who can duplicate the decals. What do you say?

I have recently acquired a 1974 safare pop top, from its original owner. Strangely enough it was never outfitted with sink/stove, only two seats which were fastened to the floor behind driver/pass. The bus has a business card in the glove box for the the camper addition. Once I get it scanned I will post.

The company is now out of business. I think this particular company may have just been an installation center and the main headquarters were based in Canada.

I would definitely buy a new safare logo sticker if you get them made, buscuss.

Another question... Have any of you monkeyed with the plumbing for the Safare's sink? I need to replace my water-damaged sink counter top so I need to unhook the sink. It won't budge by hand. If any of you have any ideas of how I could unscrew the black plastic piping under the sink I would be much obliged.

Also, I made some curtains... I think they turned out pretty good! I only spent $11 on the material for the whole busfull of curtains.

Any chance you could get the dimensions on that decal (and the one on the doors)? I could take care of the duplication Buscuss...

VbugW70-
Your bus looks good, but this thread is meant for Safares only. Why don't you start a thread for Adventurewagens and be in touch with other owners of A-wagens?
Drive on.

Did you get that bus from charlie in daytona? If so, I was just in that bus a couple weeks ago. It DOES have a safare' interior in it.

VbugW70,
If, as my65vert suggests, you have a Safare interior, please post some pics of it and tell us how you happen to have a bus with a hitop from one conversion company and an interior frm another?!

Does anyone have more information on the ASI riviera Camper conversion? I'm looking at one this weekend, and would love to get the history on them.

That looks like an Adventurewagen top that someone added a window to. Cool anyway you cut it. No pun intended. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Hightops are cool, don't let anyone ever tell you otherwise. Wink

The window looks 2 be stock ( curved glass ) & no luggage rack in the back. I've seen a few adveturewagen hightops posted on here without the rack, or at least the person thought it was, but they had the single crankout windows (that i wish i had) along the sides. That's why i was guessing it was a Safare.

Here's mine at the VW Harvest 2012 in Austin this weekend. It's a '74, with a 1980 Vanagon motor. It still has some of the original interior, but it's gotten pretty rough over the years. With the help of a woodworking friend I'm planning to restore it to its original configuration, using better materials and construction techniques. It's got a Westy bed right now, the pics on this thread will be a big help with the resto. I've traveled and lived in it, from Texas to California and the PNW and back, with my cat. It's a snug little home on wheels. And a good daily driver, my only vehicle for the past three years.

Picked up the cooler at the show, a nice matching piece of bus bling. Says "Air-Cooled" in Coca'Cola script on the other side.

Incidentally, I traded a '65 split double-door EZ Camper in ROUGH condition for this one. The EZ Camper and Safarés were built at the same plant in Paramount, CA. Not sure if they're the same company or not.

Hello everyone! First post here. Today I brought home my (new to me) 1973 Tin Top Safare'. The original owner named it "Blue Marley", so I'll stick with that.
My face hurts from trying not to smile so damn much! I cant help it. Very Happy
