If you search the gallery for Amescador as a keyword, you'll find everything I've got on it. But always slow down when you get the urge to drill holes in your vw! _________________ "Consistent maintenance with quality products is the cheapest warranty you'll ever need."

Ive been lucky to aquire a nice Westfalia rear tent from a fellow member and friend. Looks to be a simple affair on hooking it up, but it seems to be missing some brackets. These would of been used to hook it to the bus so it didnt slide out?
So I know its a stretch to think someone has the brackets and most likely Ill fab something up. But I would sure love to confirm the brackets and where they go?
Anyone ever seen some install instructions?

I'm not sure I would actually use one of those but I'd like to have one. Pretty cool and you don't see them for sale hardly ever. Looks like a nice one. _________________ 71 Westy 1600 DP, all stock Bus 1

Is there anything you can retrofit from these folks?

No they are held on differently. Im also trying to confirm if those brackets are indeed part of the kit?
Anyone? _________________

I made my own awhile back. The material I used was really thick and didn't fold up very well. If I were to do it again I'd use tent material and try to make a tighter fit like DBM's.
However now I have Z hinges for the rear seat, so I probably won't ever use this again.

Too expensive and poorly thought out in my opinion. Requires too much DYI at that price point.

Went to clean up the garage a bit and ended up playing with buses.....again.
Just some nice shots in the sun on the 77.

Keep in mind that the Amescador repops are available now. I have one and really like it, but I want to fabricate a thinner, expandable platform from aluminum so I can just keep it in the van all the time.

Thanks Jason, i had seen some of your older pics but the picture of the slotted brackets you had when you purchased the tent confused me into thinking about where you'd fitted them under the rear hatch seal.
I know its a long shot but i may have come across a decent canvass but it doesn't have the metal hardware or wooden base, if i were to buy it would you be so kind and measure your hardware and base so i could replicate when I get it back to the UK? |
