This kit shown above has the offset problem since it chose a rear rotor. There is a spacer behind the rotor to push the rotor out and it makes for very long wheels studs.
This is not a cheaper alternative and is (in my opinion) to be avoided. |

Here is an interesting kit from Germany. I expect it fits smaller wheels.

To save money we must get the calipers rebuilt for less. I have the PDF instructions and they are not standard.
My rear conversion is waiting on this. Getting the calipers from the pick and pull takes time. Since the correct caliper is not easy to find. I spent $48 on the pair.
Who can rebuild the calipers for cheap?
Next I suggest a bracket for the brake line. It is one where the flex line and hard line connect. It should fasten to a location maybe on the trailing arm.
I believe it should be fabricated unless some one can find something easy to source.
I have the instructions for the emergency brake mod.
Who is going to make the bill of materials? |

Ok, I talked to Burley. The caliper carriers are $75/pair and are laser cut with black oxide coating, plus $120 for the machined hubs, with exchange. He will give you a parts list with part numbers for the calipers, and rotors, which are off an Audi Quatro, I think.
Burley is leaving on vacation today, and will be back New Years day. He will be checking his e-mails, but might not be able to respond until he gets back.
Burley has been in the business of custom fabrication for over 30 years, and used to make all of Mastercraft's (Seth in Santa Barbara) custom Subaru conversion parts. _________________ '87 Syncro passenger w/ 2.2L Subaru

One more point. It would be nice to build pictures and instructions and post them on a blog. I was meaning to do this. Maybe we could do this together.
They will be more expensive than the front audi 4 piston conversion. More machine work. The calipers are more expensive. My front conversion ran $390. |

Yes, call Burley. These are for the larger disks. Not because larger disks are required. Just because of the offset problem with all Audi calipers. You look for the disk first before you build a design. So they will require 16 wheels. Mine has that setup. One more point is the emergency brake. This must be planned before you start. |

I guess someone needs to call Burley and get the details. Burley is super nice, and very helpful. If I have time to call him tomorrow I'll get the details and let y'all know. _________________ '87 Syncro passenger w/ 2.2L Subaru

Bern,
I hear you on the busy life stuff. No worries. Like everyone else I would be stoked on buying the adapters and paying you, or just getting the specs and doing it locally. _________________ '89 Syncro Westy

Well, Bern, if you are tired of this and want to send me the drawings i could have "some" made.
I would have to talk to my guy (my brother) but a while ago I asked him about this and he said he could get them made.
It would not be him actually making them but one of his coworkers so I'm sure if there was some money in it for his friend he would have no problem making up a bunch.
So if you want to send them no problem, if not, as I said Bern, no problem and take care. Todd. |

I took a CAD drawing to a local water jetting place a few years ago and they wanted a $100 just for the set up fee, plus time on the machine, and a stock fee. It was going to cost hundreds of dollars just to get some iPod brackets made. The best solution, for me, or anyone who "doesn't have a guy" in the biz would be for some one to collect info (and money) from all interested parties and do one run of a bunch of brackets. Then we would all have the same brackets and could share info on how to install these. Just my 3-cents. _________________ '87 Syncro passenger w/ 2.2L Subaru

I think that is all that's really needed/wanted by most of us is just the CAD Files... I can source everything else myself... I even have a machine shop that I can talk to. Just need the parts drawings. Maybe that is what you should sell Bern? Sell the CAD Files with a nice complete BOM. I'd part with maybe $75 to $100 for those. _________________ Brandon...'83 Westy "Rose" |

If someone has a CAD drawing of the brackets, a friend said he will start cutting them with his CNC machine.
