Hey folks - unfortunately it looks like I may need to abandon my Vanagon SVX project.

To the horror of SVX nerds in my area, the engine was carefully pulled from a beautifully running SVX with a motor that - according to Leon Korkin - "sounded as quiet as a sewing machine". The engine and all components were carefully and slowly pulled, meticulously labeled and stored indoors. I pulled and saved the entire HVAC system, have the original exhaust with catalytic converters (for Californian referee purposes), etc. This is a very well-thought-out engine pull done specifically for a Vanagon conversion - not just a grab/slash job like at your local junkyard.

Considering offers over $1500. Must be picked up at 92617. Will sell with engine hoist, engine stand and Snap-On floor jack (at an extra charge).

Thanks,
Garnet

I am some what interested but need to talk to Joe at Euro pro on whats involved in making it CA legal conversion. He has one.

Do you have any of the conversion parts such as mounts, adapters, harness, ECU, exhaust etc...

Eric, are you interested ? Thought you were a WRX guy.

I wanted to swap that JDM WRX out of the 85 Doka. I've been wanting to try an SVX for a while now. Just need to find the right one.

I'm seeing more and more cheap SVX'x come up, but they all have super high miles.

This motor was pulled with the specific intent to pass Californian DMV referee. I don't have conversion parts, but can hook you up with the parts supplier I was going to use. He supplies Californian conversion shops, and his work is excellent and prices are a lot better than Joe or Mastercraft, etc.

I have all the stock items you might need for a difficult CA legal conversion: stock exhaust, charcoal canister, etc, etc, etc

The engine was sold to some dude in San Diego that is putting it into a Wolfsburg... basically this same project with a different owner. He's supposedly going to give me a call when it's done so I can go down and take 'er for a spin... and weep. Smile The project is now officially dead. Boo hoo.
I will return to this project when I'm done my PhD and have a real job.
