According to my owner's manual, there should only be 2 dash cutouts below the radio; these cutouts would be for the headlight switch and the wiper control switch. My dash also has cutouts for a cigarette lighter and a flasher switch. I believe these additional cutouts are incorrect. Would appreciate confirmation. I put a picture up in the gallery if anyone wants to look at it and comment (sorry, guess I'm not smart enough to figure out how to post a picture on this page)http://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/album_page.php?pic_id=382079 |

The wiper switch is to the left of the speedo. To the right of the speedo are the headlight switch and emergency flasher switch. Anything else was dealer added or PO added. |

'66 did also have the emergency flasher switch, but it doesn't look like you have the correct one for the bus. The cigarette lighter was most likely a dealer add-on, so it could be considered correct depending on who you asked. _________________ -Andrew |

Thanks! That flasher switch is an ugly beast; my guess is that it came from a US domestic vehicle when the PO converted my bus over to 12V.
Would I be correct in assuming that the proper flasher switch is red, with white lettering? |
