My friend made this one. I chopped down the gates. Its going to look factory.
And he's doing the darn door roof front. As well as the dash.
All it will need is a good slap with a lowering stick. Laughing

Ive been following the thread at KCW. That thing is gonna be sick!

Yep, I'm responsible for building this...Chris Clark's idea, my reality..Happened to have the required parts to attempt this, so I did..Will be built by and driven to the Classic this year...Here's some build pics..

I know some people will be all butthurt I cut this singlecab and panel to do this, but believe me when I say the truck was far gone..Notice the rear end..NARROW..That's because somebody decided they were gonna attempt a V8 w/ a 9' rear end..A lot of sheet metal helped save some other busses..The entire undercarriage all the way to the beam was hacked out..The panel was in decent shape, and that is why I used it as the foundation...

What a fantastic thread about a fantastic project! Great skills, great vision! To dream it and actually do it - I love it! Having spent 20 years of my life in the pre-55-vintage-purist lobby of the hobby - it is refreshening to see a "proper mutant"-project like this. Thumbs up!

I think that may be the best hack ever, it was done for a reason, save 2 buses, and made a damn useful and cool bus. Not bad.
I want to see it done.

Sweet - but semaphores AND bullet turn signals seems a little overkill... go for the full barndoor smoothie look...

oops, I noticed i left the semafores after i posted it . The bullets are the only non bardoor thing he is leaving on.
I am also leaving he gas door on my barndoor icecream and the dry lakes bus that boxrod is building will have the dash.
We would all agree that we dont want to see them around someday after we sold them with some guy claming there real pre 54's.
So we left something easy to notice. But theres many more things not so easly noticed.

Cool project, but why -if he's doing so much metalwork-
didn't he made the front window proper barndoor ones
(barndoor height is approx 20mm lower)
