Just got my American Eagle 5-spokes back from the soda blaster.

They were black with a polished lip--peeling paint and lots of corrosion. He wasn't able to get all of the original coating off... but thats ok w/me since the soda isn't as agressive as other media like sand or black beauty they didn't come out with deep pitting.

I plan on doing a bit of sanding with a die grinder to get the rest of the black off, washing them down, priming with some etch primer, then a primer sealer coat, and painting a two-tone. The spokes and center section will be gloss black, and the outer rim will be anthricite gray. Planning on going with the flat empi centercaps.

Any ideas how to get the rest of the og black finish off? I hit a spot with my die griner and a sanding disc, it came off but left the metal smooth. I want to retain the "sand cast" finish as much as possible, otherwise I'll end up having to sand the whole wheel to get it uniform.

I'll try some stripper tonite. That og finish is really stuck on though.

Colors have changed to storm gray metallic (dark) center, and metallic silver outer rim.... beggers cant be choosers when the paint is free. If I have the funds before I finish them, I'll go ahead and spring for some gloss black though. Still gotta buy activator for the clear Sad
