hmmm that is both dumb and totally cool at the same time. i would have chopped of the front of the vanagon that would look better. still, i dunno, it's kinda like eating garlic ice cream, good, but not good. |

I saw it in person yesterday at Volkstoberfest in Melbourne. I had to look away. Sadly, it was the only Vanagon I saw in the show, but it was in the custom class. |

It's time to coin a new word;
- Dool - doo-awl - the act of performing a feat both dumb and cool at the same time.
I'm personally left with a sense of.....that's coo...uh........what ?
IMAGINE the amount of work that went into that.....wow....,

All the comforts of a van, in a motorhome sized package!
I just would have bought a Rielta.
A lot more roomy inside, and a bathroom.

Ah...
Pass the pipe.
(cough)
Now I get it. Did they buy the Pink interior from San Fran?
I feel drawn to it and repulsed at the same time.
Got to hand it to 'em, too much lickin' of the special frogs does that to a person. _________________ Happy Trails!

I'd be curious to hear why they did it; same space as a regular vanagon, carried around on an older baywindow body. Why bother? Why not just drive the van?
Confusion reigns supreme

I laughed out loud at the above posts...
Personaly, as a Vanagon lover and a splitty purist, I just don’t care for it one bit!
Although, it must have taken some real expertise.
or a lot of super glue, one or the other or both!
I agree, really doesn't make much sense... |

you can, its a "slide in" westy. We saw just the splitty a few weeks ago at a show in Sebring, its actually built like a flatbed towtruck, with a diesel motor poking out the back section of the bed. When we saw just the truck I thought it was pretty off the wall, the total package is is over the top though! _________________ Markus |

It's the GARAGE OF DR. MOREAU!
"Not... TO SPRAY OUR GAS... THAT... is the law! Are we not VANS?"
THE GARAGE OF PAIN IS REAL AND OPERATING IN EL SEGUNDO!
(The higher portions of Rob's brain would like to apologize to the Samba readership and explain politely that the SECOND snifter of Asbach Uralt tastes a LOT better than the first one and that Rob memorized 'The Silmarillion' at an impressionable age and consequently was probably the worse for watching the UNCUT 'Fellowship of the Rings' while getting increasingly snockered...)
Best!

Yeah, I got that. But setting it up that way didn't really add anything. As a vanagon you could also drive away, no? So what's the benefit? Enabling them to park the van and drive something else? OK, here's a clue... try towing a VW bug. It'll carry more than the pickup front, and doesn't require the many hours and dollars it took to make that conversion.
I still don't get the rationale ~ or I do, but I don't understand it.
Best,
