Hey Guys, I have lost two of my torsion arm ends during my front end rebuild. What can I use to plug the holes? I think someone suggested before a freeze plug? K-mann hasn't found a good fix. How about grinding down a dollar of half dollar coin? Does it matter if I don't plug it. Thanks. Tom

Up to now there is no off the shelf solution. I am still open to any suggestion. Freeze plugs, knock outs etc. None have worked. I currently have three Thing front ends that have this issue with no solution. Open ears asn mind in Colorado, K-mann

Find a washer that fits and weld the hole shut.

I'm missing one.

My FLAPS suggested to just put a blob of grease on it and ignore it - king pin front ends leave the springs exposed. However, I want it capped.

I'm thinking of getting a disk that's close and putting it on my neighbors lathe to cut it down so it's just a hair too big. Set it on some dry ice for a few minutes, then push or hammer it into place.

Sounds like we need 6 here. I wonder if we could make a stamp and cut them out of aluminum and sell them for $4 each. I'm sure others have this problem too.

But I guess a few of them weren't helpful Laughing

Use a 1 inch knock out plug from metal conduit box.. use expoxy after test fitting. Also a 16 mm washer works too but try to find one..

I lost one of those a couple years ago.
I cut a disc from a sheet of steel, and formed it into a cup shape on a block of wood with a ball pein hammer.
With a little careful fitting, I was able to make it just fit into the opening in the torsion arm.
With the disc in place, I flattened it slightly to increase the diameter so it fit tightly into the groove in the torsion arm. Sealed with some clear silicone, it's still there.

Hope that helps, Mondshine

I have used a domed freeze out plug that was bigger and filed down to fit. I have not found a direct to fit plug. Beetle is the same if you can find arms with some and knock them out from the back.

I also used 50 cent pieces. And because I'm a nerd, they're all from 1973.
